About Interact Club

Introduction
Interact Club is a Brooklyn Technical High School club that aims to promote school spirit and community service. Our goal is to advocate the value of assisting others by making volunteering and fundraising a fun, rewarding experience. We offer a large variety of events that are both in-school and out of school, enabling students to choose events they feel most comfortable attending.

Points, Credits, Hours
Each meeting and event are worth a certain amount of points. The maximum amount of points you can get per semester is 100 points for the maximum 4 club credits. If you get over 100 points in the first semester, the extra points will transfer over to the second semester and go towards another 4 club credits. If you do not reach 100 points per semester, we will be rounding your personalized amount of points to the nearest club credit. (25 for 1 club credit, 50 for 2 club credits, 75 for 3 club credits, and 100 for 4 club credits). Timing and easy access are extremely important to us so we've made a page where you can easily check your points.

As for hours, they will come with participating in our volunteer events on the weekends. These events are worth points, but along with points, you get volunteer letters which will indicate that you volunteered a certain amount of hours. A copy will be handed in COSA for you and you will get a student copy which can be used for future purposes to showcase your activeness in your community.

Attendance, Excuses
Mandatory meetings and mandatory events have point deductions because you must attend. There will also be point deductions for when you sign up on an event with limiting seating and do not show up. You are held responsible for the event you sign up for so you must show up. If you cannot attend, you must message one of the executives on Facebook or email us at btech.interact@gmail.com so we can excuse you. Your reason for the excuse must be valid. Something like "the event is too far" or "I changed my mind" is inexcusable. No prior notice will lead to point deductions.

There will always be at least one executive present to document your attendance at events. Depending on instructions, you must make sure to sign in and/or sign out. If you fail to do so, you will not earn points or hours for your contributions. (If you do not see an executive in attendance or if all are absent, please email us a picture of yourself at the event as proof of attendance.)

Events
Majority of our events will be school performances, events, and team sport games/meets. We proudly present that a key feature of our club is that members who are players/managers of a team event we attend or a performer/host of a in-school event will get an extra 5 points. As a club that promotes Tech spirit, please suggest us events that you would like this to attend to! We also try our best to incorporate volunteer events for the weekends for service hours. Feel free to suggest us organizations or events that are of particular interest. We would love to see what our members want to participate in!
